italian rudeboy ivan iacobucci brings his brand of lowdown funk-influenced tech house to apollonia with this sterling three-tracker. over two decades of hard work and dedication to his craft has culminated in ivans untainted reputation and widespread respect within the underground from true heads like zip and, of course, the apollonia boys. his love of jazz in evident throughout this ep which is full of subtlety and depth, pulsating b-lines and smooth chords are interlaced with razor-sharp percussion and delicate keys. the first track old in on has a laid back, though driving, groove, pushing forward with a hefty bassline that is perfectly counterbalanced by the light twinkling keys and barely-there pads. scris frumos encapsulates more of an ominous, tribal feeling with intricate effects trickling through every pore of its deep, dark exterior. its atmospherics keep you intrigued, voices echo in the background and a few moments of softened chimes really intensify the already mysterious vibe. mini ass channels more of that electro-funk that forms the foundation of ivans love for music, haywire radio pulses prance around stuttered beats, giving it a slightly cosmic feel, while pipes add a more organic nuance to the track. absolutely masterful work from ivan, and another inspired addition to the apollonia catalogue.

the album is a soundtrack of music inspired by the movie rubble kings and is out globally via mass appeal records. produced by longtime run the jewels collaborator little shalimar, the album features appearances from bun b, ghostface killah, killer mike, tunde adebimpe, mr muthaf*kin exquire, boldy james, cuz lightyear, ka and roxiny, in addition to run the jewels. scoring the film was the first time little shalimar set out to make period music. half of the music on this album was taken directly from the score and is heavily indebted to 60s and 70s soul and funk music. for the new tunes shalimar sampled joints from the score and created new beats out of them.
the grey marbled double lp version comes in a gatefold sleeve and includes an iron-on patch of the rubble kings plus a download code for the rubble kings album and documentary.

amin peck is an electronic studio project, contaminated by the new wave from u.k. like most 80s electronic bands. amin-peck walked a fine line between disco and minimal wave throughout the course of the early 1980s, oftentimes incorporating shameless pop melodies and avant-garde leanings. amin peck were an italian band leaded by giorgio fioroni (aka george fyron, arrangements, production, vocals) with leonard parker (arrangments, keyboards) and max marne (production). incredible but true, amin peck started as hard rock guitar band in the 70s... and becoming one of the best examples of italo disco. this limited edition it contains full-length versions plus uncut audio material (a2) tracked down during tape restoration.
